Sancaklar Underground Mosque

It is located in Büyükçekmece. It was built by the architect Emre Arolat. Sancaklar Mosque attracts attention with its unusual appearance. It came first in the World Architecture Festival. Sancaklar Mosque attracts attention with its structure different from conventional mosques and was built by taking inspiration from the Hira Cave where Hz. Muhammed received his first revelation.

Sancaklar Mosque, which does not look like a mosque from the outside, is underground and resembles old structures.

It has received two international awards. It received the first prize in Barcelona on a project basis and in Singapore as the work of the completed architectural project.

Büyükçekmece has a mosque that is different from the conventional Ottoman and Seljuk style mosques. It was built by the Sancak family.

This place is not only a place where prayers are performed five times a day, but also a mosque where those who want to prepare for a master's degree, doctorate or master's degree, especially in religious subjects, can come and benefit from the library located at the back and it will continue its life as a continuously living place of worship.

Sancaklar Mosque attracts attention with its simplicity. The mosque, which is located on an area of 7400 m2, has a closed area of 1200 m2 and can accommodate 650 people. Inspired by the Hira Cave, this mosque was not illuminated with the idea that simplicity should be present. The mosque, which is illuminated by daylight, has both stairs and an elevator to go up to the minaret. Since it does not look like a mosque from the outside, the minaret was placed there.

You need to use your private vehicles to reach the Sancaklar Mosque located in the Büyükçekmece Toskana Valley. You can go here by going from the TEM highway from the Edirne direction, exiting from the Hadımköy exit and turning next to the Seyidoğlu Patisserie.
