Discover the life of Mehmet Emin Tokadi Hazrat, his spiritual training under Ahmad Yekdes Curyani, his service at sacred tombs, encounters with Khidr (Al-Khidr), and the location of his grave in Unkapanı, Istanbul.
Mehmet Emin Tokadi Hazrat is one of the distinguished spiritual figures in Islamic history, known for his deep knowledge, humility, and lifelong devotion to sacred service. His spiritual journey began in Mecca and continued through Medina, Istanbul, and other blessed lands.
In Mecca, Mehmet Emin Tokadi Hazrat became a student of Ahmad Yekdes Curyani Hazrat, who was himself a disciple in the lineage descending from Imam Rabbani Hazrat. He studied under his guidance for three years.
When the time came for him to return to Istanbul, his teacher asked if he had one final wish. Mehmet Emin Tokadi Hazrat requested only a prayer and said:
“After my death, may anyone who comes to my grave and recites one Fatiha be protected from the fire of Hell.”
In response, his teacher advised him:
“Make it your will that your grave not be placed in an easily noticeable location. Let it be in a desolate place, unknown to people. Only those who are destined will find it, come, and pray.”
For a period, Mehmet Emin Tokadi Hazrat served as a caretaker of the tomb of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (Eyüp Sultan) in Istanbul.
Later, he was granted one of the greatest honors of his life: serving as a caretaker at the Rawda al-Mutahhara, the blessed resting place of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in Medina.
Upon receiving this duty, he offered a heartfelt prayer of gratitude, saying:
“You have become the servant and guardian of the Sultan of both worlds. Allah does not abandon the one who sweeps the threshold of His beloved. No one can harm the servant of the Messenger of Allah. Glad tidings to you, O Emin! You have been honored to serve outwardly and inwardly at the door of the Prophet.”
It is narrated that Mehmet Emin Tokadi Hazrat met Khidr (peace be upon him) on three occasions:
These qualities made him a respected scholar and a beloved spiritual guide.
The grave of Mehmet Emin Tokadi Hazrat is located in:
📍 Unkapanı, Istanbul
Opposite the İMÇ Bazaar, on the right side after entering the area.
In accordance with his teacher’s advice, his resting place remains modest and unobtrusive, known mainly to those who are spiritually destined to find it.
Mehmet Emin Tokadi Hazrat lived a life marked by knowledge, humility, devotion, and sincere service. He remains one of the revered spiritual figures of Istanbul, reminding visitors that even a simple Fatiha recited with sincerity can open profound spiritual doors.
