Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque)

Sultan Ahmet Mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 by Sultan Ahmed I in the historic peninsula of Istanbul, designed by the architect Sedefkar Mehmet Ağa. It is called the "Blue Mosque" by Europeans due to its interior decorated with blue, green, and white İznik tiles, as well as its half-domes and large dome adorned with blue-themed calligraphic works. After Hagia Sophia was converted from a mosque to a museum in 1934, it became the main mosque of Istanbul.

Sultan Ahmet Mosque is the first mosque in Turkey to have six minarets.
