Maçka Democracy Park: A Renewed Natural and Social Space

Maçka Democracy Park faced some problems due to the deterioration it suffered over the years and the tunnel works started at its exit gate. During this process, the complaints from citizens were not ignored and a comprehensive project was implemented to renew the park.

Maçka Democracy Park, part of which was excavated as part of the road tunnel works and which drew the reaction of environmentalists, was renewed without damaging its historic fabric. The renewal project was carried out in line with modern needs while preserving the park's natural structure and cultural values.

Renewal Works

The main renewal works carried out in the park are as follows:

• Walking Paths: Walking paths worn over time have been renewed and made more comfortable for visitors.
• Seating Areas: New benches and rubbish bins have been added to the park.
• Sports Areas: Outdoor fitness equipment and modern sports equipment have been placed at various points in the park.
• Children's Play Areas: Modern play equipment such as a four-tower play structure offers a safe and fun area for children.
• Aesthetic Improvements:
  • The park's cascading pool, wood-clad structures, existing hard surfaces and the columns at the entrances have been renewed.
  • The ornamental pool has been completely revised, enhancing the park's aesthetic appearance.

In this project, where care was taken to preserve the historic fabric, environmental sensitivities were kept at the forefront. With the renewal works, Maçka Democracy Park has become both a modern and a natural centre of attraction.
