The Sancaktepe Science Center is a great place for children to explore science in an interactive and engaging way. The center is open to school groups on weekdays and welcomes individual visitors on Saturdays, making it a perfect weekend activity for families.
Each session includes guided activities, so arriving on time is recommended.
During the sessions, teachers guide children through scientific devices, conduct simple experiments, and host an engaging planetarium show.
My daughter is 4 years old, and she really enjoyed the planetarium experience. However, it’s good to keep in mind that some younger children may feel uncomfortable in the dark or get bored. I recommend talking to the teachers beforehand so they can guide you based on your child’s age and comfort level 💬
We happened to visit on cloudy days, but on clear-weather days, the center organizes solar observation sessions.
At certain times, they also host Moon and planet observation events, which sound especially exciting for children interested in space 🪐
🚗 Free on-site parking is available, which makes visiting very convenient for families traveling by car.
If you’re looking for an educational, child-friendly science activity on Istanbul’s Asian side, Sancaktepe Science Center is definitely worth visiting. With guided experiments, astronomy experiences and a welcoming atmosphere, it offers a meaningful way for children to learn while having fun.
