Karaburun Village, in Arnavutköy, is about 25 km from Istanbul. On the European side, it is the second closest beach to the centre after Kilyos. With its endless, wonderful sandy beach and charming fishing shelter, it welcomes Istanbulites who want to rest, swim and sunbathe at the weekend, especially in the summer months. Its geography and climate, suitable for paragliding, surfing and canoeing, are among the reasons it has become a youth centre. With the opening of the 3rd bridge road, its distance to central Istanbul will drop to 20-25 minutes, and with this feature the town has become a new centre of attraction. Because of difficult access, it remained unspoilt for many years. As the projects of large hotel groups come into operation one by one, its status as a tourism paradise will be reinforced. The location of the 3rd Airport to be built in Istanbul, which will be the largest airport in the world, points to an area between Yeniköy and Akpınar, neighbouring Karaburun. In the same project, the Karaburun coastal area has been designated as a tourism area.
