Where is Anadolu Kavağı? How to get there?

Anadolu Kavağı is a neighborhood located in the Beykoz district of Istanbul. Located on the northern shore of the Bosphorus, this neighborhood stands out as a touristic fishing town.

Anadolu Kavağı, which is the entrance gate of the Bosphorus from the Black Sea, has maintained its nostalgic fishing village character with its unchanging appearance for years. The village, which is one of the groves of Istanbul and famous for its restaurants, is one of the preferred places to visit for those who want to say goodbye to summer in Istanbul and enjoy the warm days of autumn in September and October, the bluefish season.

It is possible to come to Anadolu Kavağı both by sea and by road. It is possible to reach here with the Bosphorus line trips departing from Eminönü. This journey also provides the opportunity for a Bosphorus tour. The village can also be reached by ferries departing from Sarıyer. In addition, the Üsküdar, Beykoz coastal road can be used. There are many fish restaurants on the coast.

One of the important structures in Anadolu Kavağı is the Yoros Castle, built by the Genoese to control the Bosphorus. It is possible to see all the ships entering and exiting the strait from this castle built on a hill overlooking the coast and the unique view of the strait. Yoros Castle, located at the tip of the hill, attracts attention with its architecture and the coats of arms on its walls. Anadolu Kavağı, which was attacked by the Bithynians, Goths and Russians, was also captured by the Genoese for a while. Yoros Castle, built by the Genoese, was built in 1190. It is also mentioned that there was a Turkish neighborhood of 25 houses in Yoros Castle, which was captured by the Byzantines and the Ottomans in the 14th century. Evliya Çelebi mentions that the black castle in Kavak Town was conquered by Yıldırım Han, repaired by Fatih Sultan Mehmet and put soldiers inside, and that it was surrounded by 200 steps and had a chestnut forest on all sides.
